Brighton captain Lewis Dunk has announced the club’s travelling supporters will receive a special gesture at the start of the new campaign during the Tromso match.
The squad has covered the cost of match tickets, scarves and T-shirts for followers who made the journey to the Arctic Circle region.
A group of 407 supporters will be present to watch the Seagulls in their opening competitive game of the term.
Supporters faced a challenging and costly expedition to the far north of Norway in the Conference League play-off stage.
Regular direct services to Tromso are unavailable during the summer months, though EasyJet introduced a route once the tie was confirmed.
Additionally, prices for food and beverages are substantially steeper than in England.
Club captain Dunk is among the limited number of players remaining from Brighton’s last European campaign three years prior.
Supporters will have their match tickets reimbursed and discover a scarf and T-shirt positioned at their seat, funded by the players.
Speaking at the pre-match press briefing in Tromso, Dunk explained the supporters were uncertain about their destination until the final moment.
He noted it was a lengthy and hastily arranged journey for the backing public.
He said the squad wanted to kick off the season positively for the fans by collectively refunding their ticket costs.
He mentioned the intention to offer a small token this evening and expressed hope the players’ gesture would be appreciated.
