Frank Lampard has suggested that Brighton could prove to be a more challenging opponent than Manchester City as his Coventry team looks to secure their first points of the season.
Coventry suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium last time out, having previously fallen to defeats against Arsenal and Hull during the opening two rounds of Premier League action.
The club returns to home soil this weekend when they host Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton side at the CBS Arena.
Brighton has collected four points from their opening three top-flight fixtures.
Lampard suggested the upcoming encounter could be equally demanding, if not more so, than facing the champions for entirely different reasons.
The manager acknowledged that his squad must recognise they are operating at a different level this campaign while remaining flexible in their tactical approach for specific matches.
Carl Rushworth, who arrived from Brighton during the summer transfer window, is expected to occupy the goalkeeper position from the first whistle.
