Paraguay striker Julio Enciso has returned to the top flight after securing a move to Portman Road.
Brighton will benefit financially from the transfer.
The forward has committed to a five-year contract and the package could amount to £26 million.
He will work under Gary O’Neil once more, having previously reported to him during his time in France last term.
Enciso had shown his quality while spending a season on loan at the Suffolk club from the south coast team.
A potential pathway to Chelsea seemed to loom when he transferred to Strasbourg, a club within the BlueCo group, but instead he opted for the Tractor Boys following their elevation back to the Premier League.
Enciso stated he was delighted to be back at the club and had cherished his previous spell there. He added that seeing them secure promotion had given him great pleasure and that reuniting with the manager in France last season made the prospect of playing at a club of Ipswich’s stature an opportunity he was really looking forward to. He said he was eager to see the fans again.
The East Anglian side are handing over more than £40 million to the French club in a combined deal. David Weir serves as technical director at the Alsatian outfit.
Another newcomer is Ivory Coast youth international Abdoul Ouattara, who has also linked up with his former supervisor O’Neil at the club, signing paperwork on a deal running until 2031.
O’Neil described the adaptable 20-year-old as a gifted young player capable of operating in various roles, making him a valuable acquisition. He noted the staff had enjoyed their time working with him in France previously and were pleased to have the chance to repeat that experience at Ipswich.
